# Design: Confluence already-implemented validation (DOC_REVIEW)

**Date:** 2026-09-15
**Status:** Approved (Approach 1) — implementing

## Goal

On ticket start, search project Confluence docs. If the requested functionality appears already implemented/documented, comment with references (title + URL), pause for a human decision, then continue or stop.

## Decisions

| Topic | Choice |
|-------|--------|
| Detection | Confluence search (KnowledgeService) + LLM |
| On match | Comment + pause (`DOC_REVIEW`) |
| Continue | Human comment containing `continue` |
| Stop | Human comment with `already done` or `close` |
| Order | After Jira duplicate check, before clarification/architect |

## Flow

```
analyze
  → (optional) Jira duplicate → DUPLICATE_REVIEW
  → Confluence search + LLM already-implemented?
  → no  → normal analyze
  → yes → comment (doc refs) → DOC_REVIEW → END
resume DOC_REVIEW:
  → continue → skip further doc check once → re-analyze
  → already done / close → FAILED
```

## Out of scope

- Auto-closing the Jira ticket status
- Searching only design docs Agent Nova published
